CABERNET DOC
Cabernet was introduced in our area already in the years around
1850.
The particular variety was the "Carmenere" which because
of its long permanence in the Veneto-area came to be confused
with cabernet franc. Infact much of the Venetian Cabernet franc
is nothing but "Carmenere". The soil and the climate
of Colli Euganei brings forward the spicy side of this wine rather
than the "green", herbaceous side cabernet is generally
known for.
In Monte Versa and in Faedo the vineyards give us about twentyfive
thousand bottles.
Prior to bottling the wine has matured for eighteen months in
smaller seasoned oak casks (500 litre). A tiny percentage of Cabernet
Sauvignon rounds off the appealing intensity of this wine which
we consider Ca' Lustras "calling card".
